Fatehpur Sikri - Fatehpur Sikri was built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar; Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire. The complex of monuments and temples, all in a uniform architectural style, includes one of the largest mosques in India, the Jama Masjid. The architecture of Fatehpur Sikri has a definite all-India character. Though the court took 15 years to build, it was abandoned after only 14 years because the water supply was unable to sustain the growing population. Though the site itself is a ghost town, the surviving palace and mosque are a tourist attraction and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
